We regard Instant Atlas as a key innovation in the delivery of local area information, and are confident that you will find it well worth taking some time to explore the interactive reports presented here. In order to take advantage of this facility, a once-only download and installation of the Adobe SVG reader plug-in must be carried out.

If you use Internet Explorer as your web browser then all you need to do is download the viewer by clicking the button below. Download SVG Viewer

If you use a different type of browser (for example Firefox) you will also need to follow the additional steps below;

Note that you can use Firefox or Opera in conjunction with the Adobe SVG Viewer 3 to view compressed SVG files but you need to carry out some additional steps:

  • Install the Adobe SVG Viewer 3 if you have not already done so
  • Browse to the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\SVG Viewer 3.0 and copy the files NPSVG3.dll and NPSVG3.zip to the browser plugins folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins). Once you restart the browser the plug-in will be recognised and activated.
  • In Firefox, you will need to turn off the native SVG support. Type about:config into the browser URL bar, then type svg.enabled into the Filter field. When you double click on the pref you will see its value change to and from true/false, turning the native SVG support on/off.
